Mount Kilimanjaro Itinerary:
Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to Moshi, the gateway to Mount Kilimanjaro. In the evening, you will meet your guide for a trek briefing and equipment review in preparation for the trek.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, we will drive to Marangu Gate and officially begin our climb. The first day's trek takes us through a thick rainforest, with a chance of afternoon rain. We will hike for about four hours to reach the Mandara Hut, where we will spend the night.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Continuing our ascent, we pass through forested areas before reaching the heather and moorland zone. Enjoy magnificent views of the mountain peaks as we hike for approximately six hours to reach the Horombo Hut, situated in a valley surrounded by unique flora. We will spend the night here.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Leaving Horombo Hut, we trek past the final watering point and enter the desert-like alpine zone. As we cross the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, Kibo comes into view. We will reach Kibo Hut in the afternoon and have time to rest and refuel before the summit push, which begins at midnight.
Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
In the early hours of the morning, we begin our climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro. The frozen scree slope makes the ascent easier, and we aim to reach Gillman's Point on the crater rim by sunrise. From there, it is a two-hour hike along the crater's edge to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After enjoying the summit, we descend to Horombo Hut for the night.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
The final descent takes us back to the bottom of the mountain, where each hiker will receive a certificate of accomplishment. From there, we will be transferred to our hotel in Moshi. In the evening, we will have a dinner with our guides.
