8 days Lemosho Route Overview

The Lemosho route is a newer but excellent choice for climbing Kilimanjaro. We prefer this route because it offers a perfect balance of low traffic, stunning scenery, and a high success rate. Starting from the west, it provides a gradual ascent, increasing acclimatization chances. Join us for an unforgettable adventure to the Roof of Africa.

Mount Kilimanjaro Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi for a pre-trek briefing and equipment check.


Day 2: Lemosho Glades to Big Tree Camp (Mti Mkubwa)

After breakfast, you will be driven to the Londorossi Gate, where the trek begins. The trail leads you through lush rainforests, home to various flora and fauna. Your first campsite, Big Tree Camp, is nestled in the rainforest at Mti Mkubwa.  


Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Today, the trek continues through the rainforest, gradually transitioning into the heather and moorland zone. You'll catch glimpses of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau as you ascend. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp.


Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

On this day, you will hike across the Shira Plateau, an expansive high-altitude desert. The scenery is breathtaking, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Your camp for the night will be at Shira 2 Camp.


Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

The trail will lead you eastward, skirting around the Kibo Massif before descending to Barranco Camp. The Barranco Campsite is situated in a valley, offering stunning sunset views of the Western Breach and Breach Wall.


Day 6: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

Today, you'll tackle the infamous Barranco Wall, a challenging yet exciting section of the trek. As you climb the wall, you'll be rewarded with impressive views of the Karanga Valley below. From Barranco Camp, the trail ascends to Karanga Camp and finally reaches Barafu Camp, where you'll rest before the summit attempt.


Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Mweka Camp

At midnight, you'll start the final ascent to the summit, Uhuru Peak. The trek will be demanding but incredibly rewarding as you watch the sunrise from the roof of Africa. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, you'll descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp.


  Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

The final day of the trek takes you through the rainforest one last time. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you'll receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your mountain crew. From there, you'll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
